The Maxum 3200 SCR was Maxum’s largest model when introduced in 1994 and was designed as a spacious family/weekend cruiser. It has a surprisingly roomy interior for a 32-foot boat, with a forward berth, aft cabin, convertible dinette, full galley and enclosed head with shower. The 11-foot beam and lack of side decks give the interior considerably more usable space.
Her 51-meter Southern Spars carbon mast carries an enormous sail plan—about 740 m² upwind and 1,551 m² downwind. The lifting keel can hydraulically reduce draft from 6.75 m to 4.50 m, while the propulsion system retracts the propeller and shaft to minimize drag while sailing. The boat has been reported at 24 knots during a delivery in 20 knots of wind, with the captain estimating a theoretical top speed of around 35 knots.
