El Guapo was built as a substantial offshore sportfishing yacht, with the wide 21-foot beam providing an unusually large and stable platform. Her extensive refit included a CAT repower producing approximately 2,800 hp, a full tuna tower and major upgrades to her systems and accommodations. She features three staterooms accommodating seven guests, three heads, a large salon and galley, and a serious tournament-style cockpit and fishing arrangement. Northrop & Johnson noted that the boat subsequently received another major refit in 2015, including new headliners and LED lighting, soft goods, a large dinette, entertainment equipment and other improvements.
